Juvenile Correctional Centres Outreach
On the 27th December 2022, VCDF organised a ‘Christmas Outreach’ at the Lagos State Children Centre, Special Correctional Centre for Girls and Children Centre to try and make them feel special during the festive season. A total 32 volunteers spent the day with the children and girls participating in activities such as face painting, musical chairs and a three-legged race etc. VCDF donated the following items : bedsheets, customised gift bag, customised T-shirts (children, girls and staff), flasks (teachers), story books (children), pyjamas (girls) and socks (children). The Children Centre was given a water dispenser; two burner cooker donated to the Special Correctional Centre and a 3-in-1 printer and photocopier provided to the Correctional Facilities for Girls.
This was followed by a New Year’s Day to the Special Correctional Centre for Boys – a closed centre for boys between the ages of 10-17 years old. The objective was to interact, donate gift items and create ‘fun’ memories. A total of 31 VCDF volunteers participated in a talent show which highlighted the boys’ flair in dancing, rapping and singing. This was followed by a friendly football match which the boys won 2-0. The boys were gifted bedsheets, gift bags, jeans and branded T-shirts. The Centre staff were not left out and were also given branded t-shirts, water flasks and gift bags. The Centre was presented with 4 standing fans, 1 football and 3 clippers.
