Building Bonds
Building Bonds is VCDF’s core inclusion programme, focused on partnering with institutions that support vulnerable groups to create lasting change by delivering life skills, mentorship, and scholarships at correctional centres in Lagos to support re-entry into society. VCDF contributes to improving living environments for children in orphanages and special needs schools by providing consumables and educational materials. It also encourages environmental actions among community members through upcycling innovations.
VCDF, in collaboration with State Ministries and NGO partners, has supported over 2,000 beneficiaries since inception as it fosters partnerships that empower vulnerable communities and promote sustainable development.
CWI – Community Welfare Initiative
CWI – Community Welfare Initiative is VCDF’s compassionate response to economic and health vulnerabilities. It provides educational scholarships for children of low-income earners and medical assistance for community members battling critical illnesses. Since inception, the initiative has impacted over 400 beneficiaries.
GEI – Gender Equality Initiatives
GEI – Gender Equality Initiatives are targeted to combat gender-based violence and empower women at the grassroots level through awareness, capacity-building, and community support. Key focus areas include sexual and gender-based violence training & Awareness for Nigerian Police Officers, in collaboration with the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA).
VCDF also provides community engagement interventions like financial literacy and SGBV awareness sessions for women in Lagos, to promote safety, independence, and informed decision-making. In partnership with Police Officers Wives Association (POWA) Lagos branch and other NGO partners, VCDF empowered over 700 women through training, mentoring, and startup support—strengthening resilience, economic participation, and inclusion.
Blood Donation Drive
In Nigeria, the demand for safe blood continues to exceed supply, leaving many patients vulnerable during emergencies, surgeries, or childbirth. Blood donation remains a critical, lifesaving intervention that relies heavily on community participation. VCDF’s annual blood donation drive aims to raise awareness about voluntary blood donation, address misconceptions, and strengthen the national blood supply system through community engagement and partnership.
Since its launch in 2022, VCDF, in partnership with LSBTS, has recorded an unprecedented 634 pints of blood donation. This landmark achievement shows our commitment to contributing to improved health outcomes and reinforcing VCDF’s commitment to public health and community well-being.
Looking forward, VCDF will continue to deepen its efforts by expanding partnerships with government and civil society, to create a gender and socially inclusive society.
