Sustainable Livelihood
We empower individuals and communities with practical skills, entrepreneurial training, and access to sustainable income opportunities. Our programmes promote self-reliance and long-term socio-economic growth through three key initiatives:
VEEP - Vocational and Entrepreneurship Enhancement Programme
EDT+ - Entrepreneurship Development Training
Vocational and Entrepreneurship Enhancement Programme (VEEP)
The Vocational and Entrepreneurship Enhancement Programme (VEEP) integrates vocational skills development with entrepreneurship training to help beneficiaries build and grow sustainable small businesses. The beneficiaries receive start-up kits, mentorship sessions, and participate in exhibitions that connect them with real market opportunities.
To connect vocational training with real market opportunities, VCDF organizes annual exhibitions where participants showcase, sell their products and gain market insights. In collaboration with the Nigerian Red Cross Society, Lagos and Iru Local Council Development Area, over 200 participants have benefitted from the VEEP programme between 2024 and 2025.
To ensure growing impact and economic inclusion, VCDF will continue with follow-up through mentorship, business seminars, and field visits.
Entrepreneurship Development Training (EDT+)
The programme is designed to equip individuals with essential entrepreneurial and life skills needed to start, manage, and scale sustainable businesses. It also provides access to finance, mentorship and market linkages. Beneficiaries include youths in correctional centres, widows, police wives, and women in underserved communities. In collaboration with the State Ministries of Women Affair and Poverty Alleviation, Nigerian Correctional Centre, Lagos, Iru Local Council Development Area, Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA) and other partner NGOs, VCDF impacted over 500 women and youths in Lagos and Akwa Ibom, from 2023 to 2025, helping them contribute meaningfully to their communities.
Vocational Training Centre Enhancement (VTC)
The programme builds on the successes of EDT+ and VEEP by strengthening the infrastructure and curriculum of vocational training centres. Launched in correctional centres, this initiative focuses on upgrading facilities, supplying training materials, and integrating entrepreneurship modules to create more effective learning environments and better economic outcomes for trainees.
Since inception, our livelihood programmes have reached over 700 individuals across multiple communities. VCDF is creating pathways foster self-reliance, build resilient livelihoods, and promote long-term socio-economic growth.
VCDF is piloting Reform360 initiative to enhance correctional facilities to equip inmates with market-relevant vocational and entrepreneurial skills. Entrepreneurship development is embedded in the training to ensure participants can transition into sustainable businesses. Additionally, a Train-the-Trainer model is also being implemented to ensure knowledge transfer and programme sustainability. This includes training in Tailoring, Leatherwork, Photography, Barbing, and Arts & Crafts, creating a ripple effect of skills acquisition and economic empowerment.
