T3 - Transforming Teachers for Tomorrow

T3 – Transforming Teachers for Tomorrow is an initiative of VCDF that addresses a significant gap, particularly in underserved areas. Teacher training efforts with skills such as effective communication, collaboration, and creativity in modern teaching are often overlooked. The T3 programme aims to empower educators through professional development, fostering educational excellence and creating a lasting social impact. The programme includes pedagogy and soft skill training, which equips teachers with essential skillset, promoting knowledge-sharing, and supporting continuous personal and professional development.

Since its pilot in 2023, VCDF has trained 544 teachers from 30 schools in Lagos and Akwa Ibom States.

As VCDF looks ahead, it aims to scale up its leadership training to more schools in Lagos and other implementing states as well as remedial learning and teaching methodology to improve foundational literacy and numeracy among primary school pupils in Akwa Ibom to ensure greater access and sustainability. The T3 Programme represents a scalable, high-impact approach to teacher development, contributing meaningfully to the transformation of Nigeria’s educational landscape.

LEP - Learning Enhancement Programme

LEP – Learning Enhancement Programmes are a suite of strategic initiatives developed to improve educational outcomes by expanding equitable access to quality learning. Rooted in a holistic approach to education, the LEP targets both academic and extracurricular competencies, blending classroom learning with experiential hands-on learning.

One of the flagship initiatives under LEP is IMS – Igniting Minds through Science, which engages senior secondary school students in Nigeria, enhancing their various soft skills and practical scientific learning. The programme aims to deepen scientific understanding, promote innovation, and connect classroom learning to global challenges. Complementing this is the Go Green Initiative, which integrates environmental education with practical sustainability projects such as tree planting, income-generation through upcycling, and climate awareness campaigns.

In partnership with State Ministries of Education, VCDF has impacted over 14,177 children since inception. The LEP initiative proves to be a powerful model for enhancing student learning experience through inclusive educational programmes.

VCDF aims to pilot Goal Setter – Life Skills through Sports as a platform to promote teamwork, discipline, and physical well-being while identifying promising athletes for sports scholarships.

MSI - Model School Initiative

MSI – Model School Initiative is a transformative education programme designed to improve the quality of education in Nigeria through targeted infrastructure upgrades, enhanced teaching resources, and the promotion of holistic student development. By addressing the root cause of educational decline in Nigeria, the initiative seeks to support sustainable model schools that can serve as benchmarks for educational excellence across the country. Through MSI, VCDF is laying the groundwork for long-term educational reform by equipping schools with the physical and instructional tools needed to deliver quality education in a sustainable and replicable manner.

VCDF, in partnership with State MoEdu, is renovating select secondary schools in Lagos and Akwa Ibom states. These improvements are aimed at creating safer, more conducive learning environments that not only boost student confidence but also directly contribute to improved academic performance.

Testimonial

“The programme is such a laudable one that our partners who have been working with us in the past should also take a cue from it because it has encouraged the curiosity of our students giving them the broad understanding of what science can do. It has given the students an opportunity of participating & ensuring whatever skill they have inherent, can be used to explore the world around them”

“Thanks to Vcare for Development Foundation for partnering with the Lagos Ministry of Basic and Science Education for allowing the students showcase their talents. I’m so impressed and surprised at the performance of the students. I’m proud of Lagos state students for being part of this initiative. While in school, I’ve not done this kind of thing, was pursuing accountancy not knowing how profitable science is. I’m so glad to see our students meeting the standard of the Federal Government.”
